People involved in a White House innovation meeting next week have been advised that President Donald Trump is planning to attend, alongside a number of crypto CEOs involved in a new Commodity Futures Trading Commission advisory committee.
The meeting is a prelude to the innovation committee’s Thursday inaugural event, at which the long list of CEOs from crypto, prediction markets and AI will discuss their industries.
President Donald Trump is expected to be in attendance when the administration's new innovation committee — a crowd of crypto CEOs and leaders of prediction market and AI companies — sits for a White House meeting on Wednesday, said people briefed on the planning.
The chief executives of companies such as Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi are members of the new Innovation Advisory Committee at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, but before they attend
their first committee meeting
on Thursday, the crypto CEOs will gather for the White House meeting, said the people, who asked not to be named, and participants have been told Trump is planning to attend.
The meeting, expected to be held at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House, is meant to get a policy dialogue started in some of the leading arenas for U.S. innovation. The roster at that meeting was also expected to include
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig
and other advisers, the people said. One of them added that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick may attend.
White House spokespeople didn't immediately respond to requests for comment on the plans.
On the industry side, the leading crypto CEOs will be joined by the chiefs of more traditional financial names, too. The committee's members include the leaders of CME Group, Nasdaq and Intercontinental Exchange, among many others. Frank La Salle, the head of the DTCC, is also a member.
The Thursday afternoon meeting at the CFTC will dig into the group's innovation agenda. The opening session is entitled, "Crypto’s Regulatory Evolution: From Uncertainty to Clarity." One of the suggested topics is described as "the remaining challenges to a durable federal market structure."
The White House and Trump have been mired in the contentious debate over advancing the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act through final votes in the U.S. Senate. Further action may be dependent on whether the president is willing to accept
tighter ethics restrictions
governing his personal involvement in the crypto industry.
